"Alessi was founded in 1921 to produce crafted products in metal for eating and drinking, by Giovanni Alessi. In 1935, Carlo Alessi (born 1916), son of Giovanni, was named chief designer. In 1945 he ascended to chief executive and designed the coffee service Bombé, an industrial piece manufactured in four sizes. That same year Carlo's younger brother, Ettore Alessi, joined the company as a technician..."
What attracts me most to the Alessi range is how the stereotype of stainless steel "uniform" utensils are transformed into something more unique and beautiful - something you could get confused with a decorative art!
Items such as this cute A di Alessi Lily Bird soy sauce container:
"In 2006, the company reclassified its products under three lines: A di Alessi (products with lower price points), Alessi (the main collection) and Officina Alessi (the most experimental and limited edition pieces). 2006 also saw the opening of Alessi's first New York City flagship store in SoHo.
Another notable collection is the collaboration with the National Palace Museum of Taiwan, a collection of various kitchenware products with Asian themes..."
ok, so lets start with some of my favourites from the A di Akessi range:
The colours are fabulous, the characters are quirky, whats not to love about the A di Alessi range! I love the whole oriental themes of the salt and pepper shakers, the soy sauce pot and the milk jug. Being a HUGE fan of cooking Asian food these condiments would blend right in!
Next are a few things I simply ADORE from the Alessi range. Mainly focusing on the stunning kettles by Alessi:
"Among the best known of the company's product range are Richard Sapper's kettle with a two-tone whistle, Michael Graves' kettle with the bird shaped whistle..."
& lets just throw in a couple more of the splendid items by Alessi for good measure!
You can never have too much of a good thing!
Colorful, playful and charming. The Alessi range is just divine! I'm already adding more of these gorgeous items to my Amazon wish list.
Amazon, Selfridges and John Lewis are great places to find items from the Alessi range.
